What is Emotional Intelligence?
Emotional intelligence refers to recognising and understanding our own emotions, and those of other people, and how actions and words affect each of these. It contributes hugely to interpersonal interactions and is an important skill for anyone to build relationships, coordinate teams, motivate others, and become aware of all of our strengths and weaknesses, among many other things.
This course offers a thorough introduction to emotional intelligence exploring various models innovated by Goleman, Mayer et al and Bar-On. Alongside this, theories of social awareness and specific pieces on The Chimp Paradox and Psychological flow states are applied to emotional intelligence.
